Bumps, Drafts and Last-Lap Boosts - Race Physics
Kart League Manager races turn on officially named physics: bumps, drafts and last-lap boosts. What the drama mechanics imply for team racing.
Three mechanics are named as the reason races turn: bumps, drafts, and last-lap boosts. “Watch bumps, drafts and last-lap boosts turn the race around” — the spectacle is official, and so is its vocabulary. (Source: Steam store page)
The Three, Officially
- Bumps — contact between karts; in team racing, contact is tactics.
- Drafts — slipstreaming for speed; two karts officially go faster than one.
- Last-lap boosts — the officially named endgame mechanic that turns races around at the flag.
Team Tactics From Three Mechanics (community analysis)
4v4 is the clue: these are team physics. Drafts reward running pairs; bumps reward coordinated pressure on rival pairs; last-lap boosts reward positioning the whole race for one crescendo. A manager’s grid is a tactics order — who runs lead-out, who sits in the draft, who carries the boost plan. (mechanics and format official; tactics community)
